This painting is a scene on the east side of Mirond Lake ,
Saskatchewan. The two islands that are in the background are islands
on the way to the popular Three Fingers Bay. We have several nesting
sites of Bald Eagles in our area. In this scene the Male eagle is bringing
a fish to feed his brood. Eagles are often seen transferring a fish such
as this to their mates in flight, with one eagle turning upside down
to receive the fish in its talon's from the other eagle. Two
chicks are quite common in our area, although some people believe that two
would be rare. Eagles are fascinating to watch, both in catching their
pray as well as collecting nesting material and other activities, even
swimming. They are a very intelligent bird, and I hope that they will
always be with us for all to enjoy. |
